Two reasons to keep reading: what happened to my body in 90 days, and why I'm bothering to tell you about it.
TL;DR: In 90 days I lost 30 lbs and moved the bloodwork tied to a heart condition in the right direction — no products to sell, no pitch, just documenting what worked.
If you're at all interested in losing weight, living longer, or just want to know what actually moved the needle for me — keep reading. I have nothing to sell you.
In 2025 I was diagnosed with atherosclerosis in my aortic artery. Weight loss wasn't the main goal, but slowing down the soft plaque in my arteries was. Losing 30 lbs was the side effect. Here's what changed in 90 days:
| Marker | 2025 | 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Total Cholesterol | 306 H | 196 | −36% |
| LDL (calc) | 222 H | 130 | −41% |
| Triglycerides | 180 H | 89 | −51% |
| HDL | 49 | 47 | −2 |
| VLDL (calc) | 35 H | Not provided | — |
| Non-HDL | — | 149 H | New |
| ApoB | — | 101 H | New |
| Lp(a) | 65 mg/dL | 109 nmol/L | Not comparable |
| hs-CRP | 0.9 | 0.7 | −0.2 |
| LP-PLA2 Activity | — | 121 | New |
| LDL/HDL Ratio | 4.53 | 2.77 (derived) | −1.76 |
| LDL Particle Number | — | 1479 | New |
| LDL Pattern | — | A | New |
H marks a result the lab flagged as high at the time it was drawn.
When I started, I assumed LDL cholesterol was the only number that mattered. It's not, and I'll break down what actually matters in blood panels in a future post.
Why write this at all?
I just finished Walter Isaacson's biography of Elon Musk. Whatever you think of him, one thing stuck with me: he'd pick something good to do first, then figure out how to make money from it after. Tesla, Neuralink, and SpaceX all started that way.
I don't expect to make a dime off these posts or this website, and again, I have nothing to sell you. If it somehow turns into something down the road, that'll be a bonus, not the point.
My real motivation is to help others. I've spent a lot of time and money learning what works and what doesn't, and if sharing that shortens someone else's learning curve, or keeps one person from falling for a fad diet or an expensive program, it'll have been worth it.
